Abstract

Aim: The aim of this comprehensive review is to present an update about the recent advances in the management of dental caries. Background: Despite the use of age old conventional physical and chemotherapeutic methods for caries management, dental caries still continues to be the most prevalent form of oral infectious disease. Thus, there is a need for additional approaches to deal with dental caries. Conclusion: Probiotics seem to be very effective in dealing with dental caries as revealed by the studies conducted recently in this discipline. More studies are needed to explore the use of probiotics appropriately in the field of dentistry. [Tapan M NJIRM 2017; 8(6):92-97
